Shloka 11.2

“I have heard in detail of the origin and dissolution of beings from You, and of Your imperishable glory, O Lotuseyed.”
Key Teaching: Arjuna acknowledges Krishna’s teachings on creation and glory.
Theme: Guidance, Dharma, Vishwarupa Darshana Yoga.
Description:
Arjuna acknowledges hearing in detail from Krishna about the origin and dissolution of beings and his imperishable glory. This verse, continuing 11.1, addresses Arjuna’s growing understanding (2.9). The themes of guidance, as Krishna’s teachings enlighten, dharma, as Arjuna accepts cosmic truth, and Vishwarupa Darshana Yoga, as he prepares for divine vision, are central.

In the Mahabharata, Arjuna’s earlier confusion (1.28–46) contrasts with Duryodhana’s ignorance (1.3–11). Arjuna’s recognition strengthens his Kshatriya duty, aligning with Karma Yoga (2.47, 10.6). Krishna’s glory is imperishable.

Philosophically, this verse addresses the human quest for cosmic truth, a theme Krishna refines with teachings on creation (10.6). Arjuna’s progress reflects Krishna’s guidance overcoming reluctance. The theme of Vishwarupa Darshana Yoga underscores the Gita’s focus on divine revelation.

Sanjaya’s narration frames Arjuna’s statement objectively, emphasizing its cosmic clarity. This verse serves as a metaphor for life’s cycles, where Krishna’s truth prevails. Krishna’s teaching prepares readers for performing duty with divine knowledge, aligning with liberation.
