Shloka 11.22

“The Rudras, Adityas, Vasus, Sadhyas, Vishvadevas, Ashvins, Maruts, ancestors, and Gandharvas, Yakshas, Asuras, and Siddhas gaze at You, all amazed.”
Key Teaching: All divine beings gaze at Krishna’s cosmic form in amazement.
Theme: Guidance, Dharma, Vishwarupa Darshana Yoga.
Description:
Arjuna describes Rudras, Adityas, Vasus, Sadhyas, Vishvadevas, Ashvins, Maruts, ancestors, Gandharvas, Yakshas, Asuras, and Siddhas gazing at Krishna’s cosmic form, all amazed. This verse, continuing 11.21, addresses Arjuna’s vision (2.9, 11.3). The themes of guidance, as Krishna reveals, dharma, as Arjuna sees divine awe, and Vishwarupa Darshana Yoga, as he details the form’s impact, are central.

In the Mahabharata, Arjuna’s awe (1.28–46) contrasts with Duryodhana’s ignorance (1.3–11). The divine amazement supports Arjuna’s Kshatriya duty, aligning with Karma Yoga (2.47, 11.21). Krishna’s form captivates all.

Philosophically, this verse addresses the universal awe of divinity, a theme Krishna refines with teachings on his glory (10.6). Arjuna’s vision reflects Krishna’s guidance overcoming reluctance. The theme of Vishwarupa Darshana Yoga underscores the Gita’s focus on divine wonder.

Sanjaya’s narration frames Arjuna’s words objectively, emphasizing their universal clarity. This verse serves as a metaphor for life’s wonder, where Krishna’s form amazes all. Krishna’s revelation prepares readers for performing duty with divine awe, aligning with liberation.
